Ride FREE Thursdays
City of Greeley

Ride FreeThis seven-month marketing campaign was launched in May 2005. Anyone could ride Greeley transit free on Thursdays. A multi-faceted marketing campaign was implemented with incentives, pledges and advertising. All bus drivers wore special polo shirts advertising the campaign.

Generally, when comparing ridership totals from 2005 against 2003-2004 data, Greeley/Evans Transit consistently maintained double-digit increases which started in June and continued the rest of the year.  The graph illustrates the campaign’s success and highlights the ridership changes on a monthly basis. The major goal was to increase transit ridership in 2005 by at least 15% compared to the same timeframe in 2004. That was accomplished; a 20.9% monthly average.

Dodge the Traffic Creep
City of Greeley

This pro-transit marketing campaign targeted Greeley’s 11th Avenue Corridor. The success of this campaign was due to several factors including;

a) most convenient bus service along 11th Avenue,
b) an extensive year-long transit marketing campaign, and most importantly,
c) annual customer satisfaction survey,
d) ongoing collaboration, communication, and coordination among transit
administration, operations, and marketing staff.

UNC Boomerang Shuttle

Boomerang Bus Route
University of Northern Colorado
Greeley, CO

This project successfully implemented a social marketing campaign introducing a new bus route to a University campus, resulting in record-breaking ridership numbers. Numerous strategies were implemented including distribution of fliers and posters across campus , mailing inserts with tuition bills, distributing T-shirts & other prizes, plus incentives awarded to individuals spotted on campus wearing “I Boomeranged Today” stickers.

In the first nine months of operation, the Boomerang Shuttle transported 86,486 riders. These results exceeded initial ridership estimates by almost 25% with an average of 1,095 riders per day or an average of 53.5 riders per bus per hour. Key findings in an October 2000 survey (624 responses of UNC students, faculty, and staff) reported 86% had used the Boomerang Shuttle, 88% recommended continuing the shuttle., 74% had recommended the shuttle to others and 85% rated the level of satisfaction as either good, very good, or excellent.
